Goal-machine Dzeko tipped to replace Adebayor

Reports in the German press claim that Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko is being lined up by Arsenal to replace Emmanuel Adebayor as the Togo striker edges closer to a move to AC Milan. Dzeko, who has also been linked with Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, has been in amazing form for Bundesliga leaders Wolfsburg and netted another hattrick at Hannover on the weekend to take his total to 25 goals in 28 league appearances.

Speaking earlier in the season, Arsenal first team coach Boro Primorac told German sports magazine Kicker that the Emirates outfit were keeping close tabs on Dzeko’s impressive form.

“We [will] keep our eyes on him," Primorac is quoted as saying.

"He is a striker able to make it in the Premier League."

Similar in style to former Manchester United predator Ruud van Nistelrooy, the 23-year-old is something of a tour-de-force inside the penalty. Noted for his heading ability and willingness to score scrappy goals from close range, Dzeko could prove to be the missing part in Arsene Wenger’s jigsaw.
