ARSENAL are on the trail of another young French-African prospect, 19-year-old defender Mamadou Sakho from Paris St Germain.Sakho would add to manager Arsene Wenger’s contingent as he has been capped by France at Under-21 level and is of Senegalese descent.
The £12million-rated Sakho said: “Arsenal watching me? That is very good. It gives youngsters such as myself the belief that you can make it to the top level.”
The 6ft teenager is the youngest player to have captained PSG – he was given the armband when he was 17.
Everton, meanwhile, have stepped up their quest to land the Cameroon international Stephane Mbia.
Goodison boss David Moyes is a longtime fan of the £8m-rated Rennes midfielder and tried to sign him last summer.
The Scot made a personal check on 22-year-old Mbia on Wednesday, when Rennes lost 3-2 at home to Bordeaux.
