Arsenal need to perfect in balance

Friday, 27 February 2009

Manuel Almunia feels Arsenal owe it to their fans to get back on the goal trail when Fulham come to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. He has been as frustrated as anyone by Arsenal's failure to find the net in their recent Premier League games - but he is happy with how things are going at the other end of the pitch.

The Spanish goalkeeper has contributed to a run of five consecutive shut-outs, a far cry from the opening months of the season when Arsenal were shipping goals on a more regular basis.

Now Almunia hopes Arsenal can find the perfect balance of goals and clean sheets as the Premier League campaign reaches a vital stage.

"It’s the only good thing that we can see from these kind of games [Sunderland] when we are dropping points, we are still getting clean sheets," he told the Official Arsenal Programme. "I think the team in general defensively are doing very well.

"We now need to find that nice balance where we are tight at the back but get the goals. It’s what a team like Manchester United has been so successful with this season, they have always been getting the clean sheet and then just managing to get the goal. They have the confidence to get that minimum one goal. We have to get that confidence back.

"Before we probably used to create a few more chances and also we would finish those chances quicker. Now we are spending a bit more time to get a final shot. The players realise that the fans deserve more from us and maybe some of the players are feeling more pressure at the moment at home because we are not winning games.

"I know the fans deserve more from the team than 0-0 scores."

Solomon Kalou reveals 'dream' of playing under Wenger

Thursday, 26 February 2009

Absolutely stunner, Chelsea's Salomon Kalou fights for the ball with Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini during their Champions League match at Stamford Bridge.

According to the report chelsea's Salomon Kalou says that it would a be an honour to play for the Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, and that he will consider his future with Chelsea at the end of the season. Wenger revealed at the end of last summer that he thought about making a move for the African striker before changing his mind, and the Ivory Cost international admitted it would be any player's dream to work under the Frenchman.

"Arsène Wenger said he thought of signing me? That's an honour for me, an honour," Kalou revealed to setanta.com after Chelsea's 1–0 victory over Juventus at Stamford Bridge last night.

"Because he is a very great coach and I know that every single player in the world dreams of playing for Arsène Wenger. I have a lot of respect for him, he is one of the best coaches in the world, so why not?

"I am still under contract with Chelsea, but of course I have plenty of friends who play for Arsenal: Kolo Touré, Emmanuel Eboué and Emmanuel Adebayor. They are achieving huge things at Arsenal and watching them play is just beautiful."

He added: "You are never guaranteed to be in the Chelsea starting XI because every single player fights to earn his place, including me, and the coach is the one that has the final word. At the present time I'm happy at Chelsea and I hope that the things that I want to happen will happen. I will think of my future once the season is over."

miracle comeback

Last night arsenal vs roma at the emirates stadium with victory over roma 1-0. This games absolutely stunner even they got just one goals. The gunners look better when they played in the champion league. they control all in procession and shooting but they failed little bit to finish it well.

Arsène Wenger is confident Arsenal can finish the job they started when they visit Roma for the second leg of their Champions League tie.

The teams will reconvene at the Stadio Olimpico on March 11 and each will take a positive spin on an eventful first leg at Emirates Stadium. The Giallorossi will claim they were let off the hook after Arsenal failed to add to Robin van Persie's first-half penalty. But for all the Gunners' profligacy, they proved they have enough quality to score a potentially decisive away goal in Italy.

The Arsenal manager would have preferred to see his players put the tie to bed on Tuesday night. But Wenger is positive they can prevail - especially if they don't add to a six-strong injury list before travelling to Rome.

"I am happy with the performance but there was room to score more goals tonight," said the Frenchman. "That is a regret we have.

"From Tuesday night we know that we can create chances and you never know what the right result is in this competition.

"One of the positives was that we didn’t concede a goal. We are in a position where we can’t just defend, we want to attack and score goals [in Rome].

"The next game will of course be an interesting one because they will throw a lot more forward. We have three more games between that tie and the next leg. At the speed we are losing players it might be a difficulty for us."

arsenal will be the best club in england

Tuesday, 24 February 2009

Arsene Wenger insists his struggling Arsenal side will become the best in England within the next few seasons. he said: We must keep young side together

The Frenchman believes he has his very own "golden generation" at the Emirates Stadium - such as that which came through the ranks at Manchester United in the mid-1990s and went on to dominate the English game for several years.

"I believe that no matter what happens it is important to keep this team together. This team is as good as anything in England," Wenger said. "At the start of the season, we played with (Theo) Walcott, (Abou) Diaby, (Cesc) Fabregas, (Samir) Nasri and Denilson and the oldest one was 21."

He added: "When they will all be 23 or 24 they will comfortably beat all the other teams, believe me.

"We have to keep them together no matter what happens and that is where the danger is in the modern game.

"What we achieve in the rest of this season and the trophies we win is important in keeping players like (Petr) Cesc and (Robin) Van Persie.

champion league tomorrow arsenal - roma

Monday, 23 February 2009

Arsenal will face against As Roma tomorrow night, this game will meet ex gunners striker baptista which is for the first time he will play against his former club in the champion league.

As we all knows that the gunner has been difficult situation with injury problem and they need to struggle for defends and need to focus in their firing as much as possible.

For the record in the European champions showed that Arsenal Never been Runners-up since 2006 which they loss against barcalona 2-1 in the last minute, and Roma Never been Runners-up since 1984.

The gaffers – Arsène Wenger (59) and Luciano Spalletti (49)

When last we met – It was in the second group stage in the 2002-03 season, Arsenal winning 3-1 in Rome and drawing 1-1 in London. Roma captain Francesco Totti joined a long line of forwards to come off worse in a brush with Martin Keown, getting sent off after 22 minutes at Highbury after being judged to have struck him in the face. “The defender was a fantastic actor,” said Roma manager Fabio Capello, who pointed to English hypocrisy about sportsmanship.

We meet again – Julio Baptista. nicknamed The Beast, spent a year on loan at Arsenal after a miserable time at Real Madrid, but apart from one night at Anfield, when he scored four goals in 44 minutes (and missed a penalty) in a League Cup game, he didn’t do enough to convince Arsène Wenger he was worth buying.

He enjoyed his time in England, though, apart from the “savage tackling” and the lack of sun.

“The weather over here is killing me. We’ll get one day of sunshine for every 30 days of rain, and it is driving me to despair. My girlfriend and my mother are frightened about not seeing the sun in England,” he said at the time

The Brazilian joined Roma last August for €9 million.

Arsenal need momentum again in finishing.

Sunday, 22 February 2009

Arsenal last night showed that they aren't good enough, in the first half for me they played little bit nervous but credit for almunia which third street goalless and to arshavin which is showed some charisma in passing and shooting.

On Andrey Arshavin’s debut wenger said,
“He has shown in glimpses that he has talent and that he will be a player. He has also shown that he is not ready physically yet. You could see that if he was on the ball more often he will effect the game. in the final third you feel that something can happen. He nearly scored two goals; one right-footed shot and one with his left well saved by the keeper.”

Nevertheless, they failed to collect some goal but they need to prepare in firing for next game in champion league game against roma. This might be difficult for them if Van persie and bendner can't score cos arsenal as we saw they only hopping for this striker to get some score. as we all know roma has great striker such as baptista and vucinic even we know arsenal now have awesome player at the back. This game will be tight but in my opinion there is nowhere to win against roma if they cannot score the goal.

Arsenal boss Wenger asks for £20m to secure Silva service

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has targeted Valencia's David Silva as his one big summer transfer priority.

Although the Gunners struggled to raise the £13million to snatch Andrei Arshavin in a controversial postdeadline deal this month, Wenger has made it known the club will have to find the £20m from somewhere to land Silva.

The talented Canary Islander, an explosive attacking midfielder, is one of the most sought after players in Spain, with La Liga big guns Real Madrid and Barcelona both hot on his trail.

But Wenger has been encouraged by indications from informed sources that Silva would like to play in the Premier League and is attracted by the prospect of playing alongside Cesc Fabregas, a close friend since they first played in the Spanish Under- 17s team.

Since then his career has blossomed both at club and international level. He took over the role, as well as the No 21 shirt, vacated by Argentina star Pablo Aimar and quickly established himself as a worthy successor to the former Valencia favourite.

Now 23, he has matched the popularity of more established stars such as David Villa and Joaquin.

He is now a key part of Spain's European Championship winning team, scoring in the 3-0 semi-final victory over Russia in Vienna last summer.

But Silva will not come cheaply as Valencia will demand top dollar for a player who signed a seven-year contract in June 2007.

success rather than big money

Saturday, 21 February 2009

Robin van Persie has reiterated his desire to sign a new contract with Arsenal, but only after he receives assurances from the club over its ambitions.

The Dutchman’s current deal with The Gunners expires at the end of next season and he has been in talks with the north London outfit for some time with regards to negotiating a new agreement.

Van Persie has repeatedly stated his intentions to put pen to paper with Arsene Wenger’s side, but he is seeking guarantees that Arsenal harbour the same ideas as he does in terms of achievements.

The 25-year-old says money is not the deciding factor in the delay of a new contract being signed, more the agreement between player and club on what will be done by the latter to realise Van Persie’s aims.

“Financially the last offer made by the club is fine but that isn’t everything for me,” Van Persie was quoted as saying by The Sun.

“It’s about my ambitions and how they can be fulfilled in the coming years. The club and I want the same and it is our intention we achieve that.

“Arsenal have promised me they will do everything possible to make that extra step to a level where we win prizes on a regular basis.

“In the last four years I’ve had only one prize, the FA Cup, and that’s not enough.

“I want to achieve more and I feel I can play an important role in bringing Arsenal to a higher level.”

the bad news and the good news

Friday, 20 February 2009

I have a bad news and also a good news for all of you. The bad news is, nobody knows about the last game against cardiff city that eduardo have been injury at the last minute before he been replace with van persie, and hes out for two weeks.and i know this will blows for gunners fan but the good news is arshavin may give some change cos he will be lineup for next game against sunderland. Arsene Wenger has confirmed Andrei Arshavin will make his Arsenal debut against Sunderland at Emirates Stadium tomorrow as the Gunners look to maintain their bid for a top-four place.the 27-year-old has not figured since completing his protracted transfer from Zenit St Petersburg at the conclusion of the winter transfer window.

It had been mooted the Russia midfielder, who moved to the Gunners for a fee of around £15m, would play some part in the north London derby against Tottenham shortly after his arrival at the club.

However, despite being named as a substitute, Arshavin did not make an appearance as the teams produced a goalless draw at White Hart Lane.

Now the Frenchman has revealed Arshavin will make his Gunners bow, but insists he is undecided as to whether the playmaker will start against the Black Cats.

"He will be involved," Wenger told Arsenal TV Online. "But I have not decided what I will do with him yet."

Arshavin has not played a competitive match since the end of the Russian Premier League season in late November but Wenger expects the player to reach full fitness next week.

"He is still working on preparation and he is not qualified for the (Champions League) game against Roma (on Tuesday) so we can give him another week of hard work," said Wenger.

"At the end of next week, that will be three weeks with us and one week with Zenit, that should be enough."

However, Wenger had a setback when striker Eduardo was ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring injury just days after returning from a broken leg.

The Croatia international only made his comeback after a year out of the first team in Monday's FA Cup fourth-round victory against Cardiff.

The 25-year-old marked his return with two goals in the 4-0 success at Emirates Stadium but his latest setback is not described as serious.

Wenger said: "Eduardo is out for two weeks. He picked up a hamstring injury two minutes before I took him off. What a nightmare.

"Nobody knows how it happened but I knew straight away after the game it would be a two-week job.

"It is nothing like he had before but I do know that little setbacks like this are part of being nine months out.

"After that long out, nobody plays six months on the trot. It is impossible.

"But at the same time it is a blow because, of course, he can score goals. He had shown that on Monday night."

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Eboue is back from suspension and Johan Djourou is fit following his sickness on Monday night.

What a nightmare for eduardo

Thursday, 19 February 2009

Having made such a heart-warming comeback on Monday, Eduardo will now sit out the next two weeks through injury.

The Croatian forward swept aside memories of that broken leg at Birmingham with two goals as Arsenal hammered Cardiff 4-0 at Emirates Stadium and stormed into the FA Cup Fifth Round.

The second was scored on the hour and seven minutes later he was taken off. In between those times he collected a knock. However it must be stressed it is NOT serious.

“Eduardo is out for two weeks,” confirmed Arsène Wenger to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday. “He picked up a hamstring injury two minutes before I took him off. What a nightmare.

“Nobody knows how it happened but I knew straight away after the game it would be a two-week job. It is nothing like he had before but I do know that little set-backs like this are part of being nine months out.

“After that long out, nobody plays six months on the trot. It is impossible.

“But at the same time it is a blow because, of course, he can score goals. He had shown that on Monday night.”

huntelaar to arsenal ?

Arsenal are lining up a sensational summer move for Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to reports in Spain. The Dutchman only moved to the Bernabeu from Ajax in January but is reportedly disillusioned after being left out of the club's revised Champions League squad list. The £17million man has scored just one league goal since joining Madrid, with the club's bosses reportedly set to cut their losses on the 25-year-old.

And Arsene Wenger could be set to rekindle his interest in Huntelaar, who he had lined up last summer as a potential replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor.

It is thought a bid in the region of £15million would tempt Juande Ramos to sell to his former north London rivals, with an end-of-season move now on the cards.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Barcelona could rekindle their interest in Cesc Fabregas should the Gunners fail to clinch a Champions League place.

In my opinion, as we all know huntelaar is the one of talented striker who has a good ability, skill, dribbling and most importantly hes from dutch and this will be good impact if he be line up with van persie. furthermore i think huntelaar is suitable striker to replace adebayor for the next summer.

Le Mans goalkeeper may join arsenal next summer

Wednesday, 18 February 2009

News report claims that Le Mans goalkeeper Yohann Pele has spoken about his desire to work alongside Arsene Wenger as he talks up a move to Arsenal in the summer. The 6ft 5” tall shot stopper has played for the Ligue 1 side for his entire career but at the age of 26 now feels it is the right time to explore pastures new.
Speaking to French television channel Canal +, Pele spoke openly about his future,
"[Bordeaux manager Laurent] Blanc has been a player; as a consequence he knows what the game is about.

"[Arsenal manager Arsene] Wenger has been in the footballing sphere for a while and I’m yet to make up my mind.

"Playing for Bordeaux would mean staying in the French league, but as far as I’m concerned I’d rather move to another European league.

"Anyway, I’m not ruling out any option. My contract is due to end [in the summer] and I have refused to sign a new deal.

In my opinion this deals could be great for arsenal to make it besides they already loss many games this year and this will make improvement from the gunners next season. furthermore arsenal only have a two goalkeeper almunia and fabianski this could be dangerous for them if someone have injury problem.

Is there a crisis at Arsenal?

Tuesday, 17 February 2009

ARSENE WENGER takes the moral high ground on inflated transfer fees and refuses to jeopardise the club’s coffers.

But Wenger surely cannot keep finding high-impact players.

Perhaps with billionaire Alisher Usmanov increasing his stake, he will have funds for a world-class striker in the summer.

DEFENDERS

KOLO TOURE and William Gallas are one of the most experienced centre-back partnerships and they are boosted by emerging talent in defence.

Bacary Sagna is combining attacking flair with defensive duties at right-back while, at left- back, Kieran Gibbs will give Gael Clichy a push for his place.

MIDFIELD

CREATING chances has never been a problem and they carved out three clear openings in a superb first seven minutes — none of those were taken.

Gradually Cardiff were overrun. Song provided the muscle, Vela and Denilson the guile — while the chippy Nasri gives a bit of everything.

STRIKERS

WITH only one goal in the last four games — until last night — it is crystal clear where Arsenal’s problem is.

Emmanuel Adebayor has not captured last season’s sizzling form and Nicklas Bendtner only chips in with the odd goal. Maybe the returning Eduardo, who looked lively, will turn it around.

VERDICT

GUNNERS have it beautifully right in some areas and hopelessly wrong in others.

It demonstrates why Arsene Wenger’s side cannot be serious title contenders and even their place in the Champions League next season is under real threat.

But last night was a big step in the right direction.

Eduardo make successful debut in first match

Eduardo's dream return to the Arsenal first team after his horrific leg break has given manager Arsene Wenger new attacking options as he seeks to lift their Premier League campaign.

The Brazilian-born Croatia striker scored twice in Monday's 4-0 victory over Cardiff City in the FA Cup fourth round, marking his first match for the club in almost a year in style.

"It was the best day of my life because it proved I can play again," local media quoted Eduardo as saying.

"It was a special moment to score and very emotional. I had tears in my eyes. I celebrated by kissing my wedding ring because my wife, Andreja, daughter Lorena and family supported me right through it."

Wenger, whose side are fifth in the league, 12 points behind leaders Manchester United, said Eduardo's return gave him new possibilities as they try to close the gap in the league and progress in the Champions League and FA Cup.

"We'll know at the end of the season how important it (his comeback) is, but I'm very happy to have him back," said the Frenchman. "He can play as a striker, on the flank, behind the striker, up front on his own. That is important for us."

With striker Emmanuel Adebayor sidelined for the rest of this month with a hamstring injury, Eduardo's return is timely.

"We need players of his (Eduardo's) intelligence," said Wenger.

Russian Billionaire closing on take over

LONDON (AP) - Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov moved closer to a possible takeover of Arsenal on Monday when his investment group increased its stake in the Premier League club to more than 25 percent.

Red and White Holdings, which initially bought shares in the north London club two years ago from former vice chairman David Dein, was already the biggest shareholder before announcing that it now had a stake "in excess" of a quarter.

Red and White Holdings, which has Dein as its chairman, can launch a formal takeover bid if it owns 30 percent of the issued shares in the club, which remains one of the most prestigious in the Premier League despite not winning a trophy since the 2005 FA Cup.

Investors including American businessman Stan Kroenke, the owner of the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, and who possesses 12.4 percent of Arsenal, agreed last year not to sell to Usmanov. A lockdown agreement means that none of the investors can sell their stake until April at the earliest.

But Nina Bracewell-Smith was forced off the board in December, freeing her 15.9 percent holding from the agreement.

"We are pleased to have now secured over a quarter of the shares of Arsenal," Red and White Holdings said in a statement. "We are committed, long-term investors and supporters of the club and are comfortable that we are now in a protected position."

Arsenal is lauded as one of the best run and potentially profitable clubs in the Premier League, but is currently fifth in the standings.

The possibility of missing out on next season's lucrative Champions League apparently prompted manager Arsene Wenger to abandon his policy of relying on young players to break the club's transfer record in January by hiring Russia playmaker Andrei Arshavin for about 15 million pounds ($21.3 million; €16.6 million).

The move should have boosted the club's profile across Europe, particularly in Russia, and was apparently endorsed by Usmanov.

"We also welcome the strengthening of the squad and look forward to a successful conclusion to the season," Red and White Holdings said.

eduardo returns tonight

Monday, 16 February 2009

Edurado hopeful he could be lineup for tonight games against cardif city on FA Cup reply. This is the most important games for him to show what he can do it to save FA Cup running in this games besides arsenal have difficult problem at the net.

When the Croatian striker broke his leg in horrific circumstances at Birmingham almost exactly a year ago, the Gunners were top of the Premier League courtesy of a breathtaking brand of football.

But their season imploded thereafter and the 25-year-old re-enters the fray with his team-mates' sights lowered from the League title to a battle for fourth place, leaving only the FA Cup and the Champions League as realistic chances of salvaging a disappointing campaign.

Emmanuel Adebayor's likely month-long absence with a hamstring problem will further exacerbate a somewhat toothless attack that has failed to score in three of their last four games.

After an encouraging return for his country last week, Arsenal's No9 is almost certain to feature against Cardiff in tonight's FA Cup fourth-round replay in north London.

While an expectant Emirates Stadium crowd will be hopeful of an immediate impact, Cardiff midfielder Gavin Rae, who suffered a broken leg three years ago, says it will take time for him to regain top form.

"It was a horrific injury to Eduardo and a blow for the team because before it he showed the quality he had," said Rae. "I had it myself and was out for about 18 months. I know how hard it is to go through.

"But he will definitely be back because he is only a young lad with considerable potential and he will have all the opportunities a club like Arsenal can give him to reach his best form."

Manager Arsene Wenger attempted to play down the Brazilian-born forward's return, hinting he could start on the bench against last season's FA Cup finalists. "He is back and ready to go," said the Gunners boss. "I don't know [about Cardiff]. But I don't want to promise anything."

Eduardo will not be the only player eager to start as Aaron Ramsey produced a poor display against his former club in the first meeting at Ninian Park. The 18-year-old made a £5million move last summer and despite considerable progress under Wenger, Ramsey seemed to wilt against the combative pressure of Rae and Joe Ledley in the heart of midfield.

"I was a little surprised he was nervous because he is not that sort of lad," said Rae. "But he certainly didn't play as well as he could have done. Being on the home team, he will want to stamp his authority on the game as well. But if he plays, we will have to try and stop him. There was a lot of hype surrounding his return to Ninian.

"I didn't think he was the type to get affected by that but maybe that day it did influence his game."

Cardiff are unbeaten since November after a run that has taken them to fifth place in the Championship. Despite the club's financial difficulties off the pitch, Rae warned Arsenal not to underestimate Dave Jones's team.

"If we had taken our chances in the first game and nicked a goal, you never know what could have happened," said the 31-year-old. "A lot of people say that if you get a big team at home and you don't beat them, your chance has gone but we can still do it.

"We have been working well as a unit and are very difficult to beat. We have been getting results when we have not been playing well at times on this run which is a good sign.

"It's a difficult place to go but we are playing with a lot of confidence."

Arsenal have struggled to break teams down at home of late and Eduardo could just provide the answer. For all Robin van Persie's ability, the Dutchman is not the most decisive in front of goal and Eduardo's clinical finishing can provide something Nicklas Bendtner and Adebayor may not.

But his game relies on match sharpness and it would be self-defeating to expect too much straight away from a player who, while showing flashes of genuine quality, was still acclimatising to the rigours of English football when suffering his shocking injury.

However, time is against Arsenal after a turbulent season to date and a speedy return to form from one of the club's most promising players could make Da Silva all gold for Wenger.

Van Persie: Trophies will silence the critics

Sunday, 15 February 2009

Robin van Persie believes Arsenal have to win something this season to silence their critics. Arsene Wenger's side have come under fire after going almost four years without a trophy - their last success coming back in 2005 when they won the FA Cup.Arsenal are struggling to break into the top four in the Premier League and their best chance of success this season will be in the Champions League or FA Cup.

The north London club face a tricky FA Cup fourth round replay against Cardiff on Monday night with Wenger still missing several key players including Cesc Fabregas, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott through injury.

But despite all the upheaval surrounding the team, Van Persie is convinced his side have enough quality to win a trophy this season and has sympathy with the fans' frustrations.

Van Persie said: "I am like them, I feel the same. I want it as badly as them and it can be frustrating when it doesn't happen. I'm a positive person and I think the fans should be too.

"I think it's time. The club has just gone too long without winning anything and we are doing everything we can to change it. When I joined, the team were winning things for fun and in my first year here we won the FA Cup and that was really special for me.

"If we could achieve it this year it would be an even bigger achievement, considering how unlucky we have been with injuries."

we must focus ourselves-wenger

Saturday, 14 February 2009

Arsene Wenger maintains Arsenal must stay focused on producing "outstanding performances" rather than worry about what their rivals are doing.
The Gunners have so far failed to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title, and are currently outside the top four as they prepare for Monday night's FA Cup fourth-round replay against Cardiff at Emirates Stadium.

Wenger, though, insists Arsenal must concentrate on turning themselves back into a force.

"I believe (we should) focus on our way to be successful and not too much on the others," said the Arsenal manager.

"We need outstanding performances until the end of the season and the only way to achieve that is by focusing on our performances.

"If Chelsea gain points Aston Villa will drop, it is all linked together, but if we are consistent we will be there."

Wenger admitted the decision by Chelsea to remove Scolari, who also had great success in charge of Portugal, from a position he only took up in the summer had come as a "massive surprise".

"Your reputation helps you to get you a job and to survive a bit longer than usual, but I do not want to interfere with that," Wenger reflected.

"I am sad when a manager loses his job, but it is very difficult to assess the situation from outside."

Wenger believes with the appointment of Hiddink, Chelsea will have another top-class coach at the helm.

"He has a strong knowledge of the game and strong personality," said Wenger.

"He has big experience and he always gets his teams to play the kind of football he wants to play. This is the real art of a good manager."

Wenger added: "Chelsea have gone through a difficult period, but they have been a team that would have come back, even with Scolari. They will certainly come back strongly with Hiddink."

Arsenal's battling goalless draw at Tottenham last weekend, where they played more than half the game with only 10 men following the dismissal of Emmanuel Eboue, extended an unbeaten run to 11 matches in all competitions.

The FA Cup was the last trophy won by Wenger, back in 2005, and could now present the best chance of silverware this season.

The Arsenal boss, though, maintains it is all about continuing momentum.

"We are unbeaten and want to keep that going in every competition - the longer that lasts, the stronger you will be," he said.

"If the three draws put together don't look good, then you must put the whole 11 games together and that looks like we are on a run.

"We want to transform that bit of disappointment from a draw into a convincing victory, and the team is on a good way."

Bayern join Arsenal and Chelsea in race for French star

Friday, 13 February 2009

Bayern Munich look set to rival Arsenal and Chelsea for highly-rated French international Yoann Gourcuff. The 22-year-old is contracted to AC Milan but is currently playing on loan with French side Bordeaux where he has taken Ligue 1 by storm.

Valued at €15m by the San Siro giants the midfielder is expected to leave the Rosonerri in the summer and a battle for his signature between Europe’s powerhouses looks set to commence. Despite having a first option on the player, Bordeaux are unlikely to be able to afford Gourcuff leaving the door open for Barcelona’s Guardiola, Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger and Chelsea-owner Roman Abramovich to all prepare bids.

Italian website Tuttomercatoweb now report that German side Bayern Munich could make a move for the Frenchman as a potential replacement for compatriot Franck Ribery. The report claims that FC Hollywood even sent scouts to watch Gourcuff in Wednesday night’s international friendly match in Marseille against Argentina.

Ribery, who plays alongside Gourcuff for France, is expected to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City expected to make approaches.

Stephen Appiah On Arsenal's Radar

Thursday, 12 February 2009

According to British broadsheet The Independent, Arsenal are considering a move for Stephen Appiah, the former Juventus and Udinese midfielder.

The 28-year-old has been without a club since leaving Fenerbahce last year, and has gone on trial with a number of teams across Europe.

Portsmouth were at one point interested in signing the combative box-to-box player as a replacement for Sulley Muntari, who left for Inter in the summer.

That move fell through, however, and he remains a free agent after failing to sufficiently impress Harry Redknapp while training with Tottenham Hotspur last month.

But Arsene Wenger is apparently willing to give the Ghanaian a chance, as the Gunners are sorely lacking depth of strength and experience in the centre of the pitch.

If Arsenal should indeed offer Appiah an opportunity as the Emirates, it most likely be on a short-term contract that could be extended depending on the quality of his performances.

eduardo makes impressive return

BUCHAREST, Feb 11 - Croatia striker Eduardo da Silva marked his return to top-level soccer after a year-long absence by setting up Niko Kranjcar's winner that secured a 2-1 victory over Romania in their friendly on Wednesday.

Eduardo, who suffered a horrific leg injury last February while playing for his club side Arsenal, came on just before the hour and from his incisive pass inside the penalty area Kranjcar shot home a 75th-minute winner.

Romania, without injured striker Adrian Mutu, opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through striker Ciprian Marica but it took only seven minutes for Croatia to equalise.

Midfielder Ivan Rakitic made it 1-1 when he fired home a 30-metre free kick.

Romanian midfielder Razvan Cocis wasted a great opportunity in the 58th minute when he was denied by a fine save from goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa.

The entire game was congested in midfield with both teams failing to create many scoring opportunities.

What makes the perfect football manager?

*
What qualities does the manager of your club have that would make the cut? Let us know using the comment box below.

Shrewd: Wenger

Shrewd: Wenger
PRUDENCE

Arsene Wenger

They call him 'The Professor' for a reason, although his academic qualifications may only stretch to a degree in economics from Strasbourg University.

Wenger’s (right) stringent transfer policy and emphasis on youth built ‘The Invincibles’ side of 2003-4 and, although Arsenal may not be enjoying the best campaigns this season, Gunners fans should be proud that the club’s success has been built on firm financial foundations.

And that is down to Mr Wenger.
Pizazz: Mourinho

Pizazz: Mourinho
CHARISMA

Jose Mourinho

It can only be The Special One. He lit up the Premier League with sheer arrogance. His strutting, pouting, petulant, outspoken behaviour kept us all captivated but only because Mourinho backed it up with results on the pitch, even if the methodology wasn’t always pretty.

A Brian Clough for the 21st century – not bad for someone who started off in football as Sir Bobby Robson’s interpreter.
Don't mess with the Don: Fabio

Don't mess with the Don: Fabio
TACTICIAN

Fabio Capello

He’s shown himself to be a shrewd manager since he took over from the ‘Wally with the brolly’. The Italian has no regard for reputation and picks his squads on current form, not past glories. England might still have a long way to go but they’re winning the games that matter at the moment.

Incidentally, trying to think of a tactical master in the Premier League is hard. Rafa Benitez gets it right in Europe but often falls short on domestic duty. Phil Brown was spot on in the early stages of the season but has fallen off in recent months. Tony Pulis goes route one, Tony Mowbray takes the scenic option and Harry Redknapp just urges his strikers to ‘run around a bit’.
Down with the kids: Fergie

FATHER FIGURE

Sir Alex Ferguson

Old Trafford was always going to be the right place for Wayne Rooney when he decided he had outgrown Goodison Park.

Just look at the way Fergie nurtured Giggs’ career, handling all the peripherals and letting the Welshman concentrate on his football.
Newcastle United Football Club manager Sir Bobby Robson
SPORTSMANSHIP

Sir Bobby Robson

The first gentleman of football. Even at 75 and fighting cancer for the fifth time, his voice still quivers when he talks about the game he loves.
Mr Motivator: Special KK

MAN MANAGEMENT

Kevin Keegan

Say what you like about Keegan’s ability to handle pressure or his tactical prowess.

But if there’s one boss you want slapping you on the back and telling you you’re the best in the business before you run out onto the pitch, it’s Keegan.
Gusto: Redknapp

Gusto: Redknapp
PASSION

Harry Redknapp

Whether you’re wild about Harry or think he’s a wheeler-dealing wide boy, you can’t fault his passion for the game.

It gets him into trouble sometimes, whether it’s getting too enthusiastic about a player from another club or letting off steam about a Darren Bent miss, but his heart’s in the right place.
Sam Allardyce, the Blackburn manager
BULLISHNESS

Sam Allardyce

Big Sam doesn’t mess about and you want that in a manager – flimsiness just doesn’t cut it at the top level.

Fighting spirit: Moyes
TEAM SPIRIT

David Moyes

Victor Anichebe aside, Moyes (right) ensures Everton play for each other and there is no room for egos. Steve Bruce is fostering a similar ethos at Wigan and Roy Hodgson also runs a tight ship at Fulham.
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill
COMMUNICATION

Martin O’Neill

The seriousness with which he discusses a passage of play would lead you to think he was talking about a military manoeuvre if you just went by his tone of voice. It’s paying dividends at Villa Park.
Gianfranco Zola, West Ham manager
LIKEABILITY

Gianfranco Zola

Premier League management at West Ham doesn’t seem to have dented the Sardinian’s famous smile.

PLAYING TALENT

Kenny Dalglish

The first person to win the league as a player-manager, Dalglish lead Liverpool to the Double in 1986.

‘It didn't make any difference to the team that Kenny managed us as well as played,’ said Mark Lawrenson. ‘He was still undeniably our best player.’

no pain , clichy fine

Gael Clichy, who picked up a nasty head injury during the North London derby, is hopeful he will be back in training on Thursday.

The left back’s face was covered in blood three minutes before the end of the game with Tottenham following a violent clash on Sunday, and Clichy was immediately replaced by Kieran Gibbs.

As a consequence of the injury, the France international is not available for the exciting friendly with Argentina, with St Etienne defender Mouhamadou Dabo called up for the first time.

Clichy has declared that his injury remains painful, but he hopes he will be told by Arsenal’s doctors that he can resume training on Thursday.

Clichy told L’Equipe: "I really can't remember what happened. The injury is quite deep. I feel pain when I wake up.

"However, the doctor has no worries. I will have a scan on Tuesday.

"I have been advised against any travelling, and I spoke with Les Bleus’ doctor. There are no problems.

"Now I hope to resume training on Thursday."

THEO WALCOTT IN RETURN

Arsenal star player keen to get starting line up. with arshavin, eduardo all have been fit for the next match, and latest news theo walcott were closing on return after has been injury in months.

So far so good for this team after all player will back in track to shows that they can archive something in tournament in this season.

The England winger Theo Walcott hopes to be back in action for Arsenal by the end of the month.

The 19-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a shoulder injury while on international duty in November, which required surgery.

The attack-minded youngster - who netted a hat-trick for England in the World Cup qualifying win over Croatia - has been sorely missed by Arsenal, whose title challenge has faded as they currently sit six points outside the top four of the Barclays Premier League.

Walcott, though, feels he could soon be back in contention, perhaps even in time to feature in the Champions League last-16 clash against Roma, which is split over two legs on February 24 and March 11.

"I am nearly there, and hopefully [will be back] by the end of this month," Walcott said in a webchat on Arsenal's official website.

"I am doing a lot of rehab work now with the shoulder, landing on it, and also in the gym with a lot of weights to build the muscle strength back."

The England winger continued: "I just feel it will be when I am ready. Obviously I do not want to do it again, so I have got to be 100% fit."

Walcott revealed the shoulder problem was something of an inherited condition, but believes the latest operation will see him return stronger.

"My dad had an operation on his right side (shoulder) as well, and when I had my left side done, they did a scan on my right and said that something might have to be done at a different stage," Walcott added.

"So actually it is good that it has come when I am young, and hopefully now it will be as strong as anything."

While the Gunners may be playing catch-up on the top four, with Chelsea now their closest target, their unbeaten run in the league was extended to 11 games with a battling goalless draw at Tottenham, where they had played most of the game with only 10 men following the sending-off of Emmanuel Eboue.

New signing Andrei Arshavin was on the bench at White Hart Lane, and Walcott cannot wait to team-up with the Russian forward.

"Hopefully when I am back fit again, I can play a lot of football with him," said Walcott.

"When he gets his [match] fitness back up, he will be a top player for us, definitely.

"I have seen him on YouTube a lot, watching how he plays, the balls he can spot. He can do unbelievable passes.

"He is going to be a good addition to the squad."

Arshavin is ineligible for Arsenal's next game, which is the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Cardiff at Emirates on Monday February 16, after only completing his transfer from Zenit St Petersburg on deadline day.

Eboue will serve a one-match suspension after his two yellow cards on Sunday, but there is a chance striker Eduardo could feature having been named among the Arsenal substitutes at Tottenham, featuring for the first time since breaking his leg almost 12 months ago.

Full-back Gael Clichy (cut head) should be fit to face the Bluebirds, but Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is set to be sidelined for around three weeks with a hamstring problem which saw him carried off on a stretcher at White Hart Lane

Van Persie looks forward to Arshavin and Eduardo

Robin van Persie says that Arsenal are not scoring enough goals despite their run of 11 games without defeat.Van Persie looks to Arshavin and Eduardo to boost scoring power

The Gunners missed the chance to close the gap on the Premier League top four with a goalless draw at Tottenham.

And van Persie hopes that the returning Eduardo and new signing Andrey Arshavin will help Arsenal get on the goal trail, especially as Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to be out for three weeks.

Arsenal have many striker now to take adebayor part and i think they are not in trouble or have difficult situation in choosing their striker. However arshavin and eduardo they were not played enough since last year. so this might be difficult for them to perform for next match in premier league.Even though we know many arsenal fan keen to see the first debut for both players

What i'm expecting right now they need to focus and prepare their striker to back on track and shows what they can do it. So then arshavin and eduardo could be involve in line up this weeks against cardiff in the league cup also to test what possible they can archive it.

However, they have a great chance to move in fourth place against chelsea cos they seen in difficult situation right now after scolari has been sack.

scolari has been sack

Chelsea has difficult situation in premier league in this season , Despite they has lose against man united, arsenal and twice against liverpool but they still in the top four in premier league. for that reason his manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has been dismissed as manager of Chelsea Football Club today (Monday) with immediate effect.

The Chelsea board would like to place on record our gratitude for his time as manager.

Felipe has brought many positives to the club since he joined and we all feel a sense of sadness that our relationship has ended so soon.

Unfortunately the results and performances of the team appeared to be deteriorating at a key time in the season.

In order to maintain a challenge for the trophies we are still competing for we felt the only option was to make the change now.

The search for a new manager has already started and we hope to have someone in place as soon as possible.

While that continues Assistant Coach Ray Wilkins will take charge of the team on a temporary basis.

In my oppinion, scolari is a great manager and maybe he need a times to build up the team, this might be difficult situation to chelsea besides they need to prepare for the next match against aston villa

hye hye for devils, bye bye for gunners

Monday, 9 February 2009

last night man u get back for the top of premier league after win 1-0 against west ham, plus edwin van der Sar has now claimed a British record for the longest amount of time without conceding a league goal, with the veteran Dutchman sure to keep the Red Devils defence on their toes when Fulham head to Old Trafford on February 18.

it was miracle for man u since they loss against arsenal with samir nasri score twice, after that they was no others goals they have been conceding.

Meanwhile in arsenal game, they seems to be lucky again and get street drawn after played against spurs which is play in 10 man nearly hours. It was a double blow for the Gunners who lost striker Emmanuel Adebayor with a hamstring injury at the same time Emmanuel Eboue was sent off after 37 minutes for a foul on Luka Modric having already been booked for dissent.

"Adebayor is out for three weeks with a hamstring," manager Arsene Wenger told the club's website.

The Togo striker pulled up sharply after 35 minutes of the north London derby and is now a doubt for Arsenal's Champions League last 16 tie against Roma later this month.

The better news for Wenger is that Croatia striker Eduardo was on the bench against Spurs for the first time since he suffered a broken leg almost a year ago.

"We have Carlos Vela, we have Nicklas Bendtner, we have Eduardo we have Andrei Arshavin and we have Robin van Persie. We have plenty of strikers," Wenger said.

so lucky to get draw

Sunday, 8 February 2009

So lucky for the gunners to get draw even they was be sent off in first half. But this is not the reason why they cannot get three point clear if they not wasted their opportunity. but thanks to almunia who made find saved and defender who really shown successful marking.

It was a double blow for the Gunners who lost striker Emmanuel Adebayor with a hamstring injury at the same time Emmanuel Eboue was sent off after 37 minutes for a foul on Luka Modric having already been booked for dissent.

eboue was sent off in the first half when shown a second yellow card after clashing with Luka Modric. he kicked out to trip the Spurs man to get a second yellow to add to the one for a needless caution for complaining at the award of a free-kick. However, he should be blame in this game cos shown bad attitude and made unnecessary tackle.

Robbie Keane had led the Spurs attack on his return from Liverpool, with Arsenal's new signing Andrei Arshavin on the bench.

The best chances came towards the end of the game when, first, Carlo Cudicini made a brilliant save to deny Nicklas Bendtner.

And then Modric was set clear for what could have been the Tottenham winner but Manuel Almunia denied him when the Croatian should have done better.

can spurs breaks the record or arsenal breaks it

This super sunday match arsenal will plays against spurs for the derbies day. what would it be, if is gonna arsenal win it and get their record holder plus his player adebayor may look to eye his score for the derbies day record. otherwise spurs may breaks the record which is they not win since long time against arsenal in premier league. as we know Since November 1999, spurs has failed to beat the gunners in the league yet under Harry Redknapp the side looks more than capable of breaking the league hoodoo against the masters of derby games in the form of Arsenal.

as far as mr wenger need to prove that there are really committed to give what ever it takes for archive in champion league place for next season, surely this season is not easier for them if we compare arsenal from last season. but maybe arshavin came would securely enough to get back from poor performance.

maybe this time is correctly for arsenal to bounce back and revenge for Harry Redknapp by getting important results at the start of his tenure which included an amazing 4-4 draw against the bitter rivals at the Emirates stadium earlier this season having been down 4-2 until the injury time.

But i'm confident tonight arsenal will win against spurs at white hart lane and keen to see adebayor score and get the full-record london derbies.

What a game aston

Last night game aston villa against blackburn With their 2-0 win at Ewood Park, the team that looks very likely to claim a UEFA Champions League spot for next season have broken a club record.

Goals from James Milner and Gabriel Agbonlahor meant Aston Villa came away with all three points at Ewood Park, and also meant they have now won a club-record seven consecutive away games.

However in others game chelsea look frustrated with held against hull city on his new signing queresma first debut. even though as we know queresma who enjoyed a bright opening to his debut, was replaced just after the hour.

this is surprise for aston villa fan and sadly for chelsea who was be replaced by villa for the third place. And also arsenal need to bounce back if they hope to be regular team in the top four, and must keep defiance and pressure for the race of champion league place.

Nothing else matter if arsenal want to get through, they still have time and player. But they just need a performance in all games to shows how great they are.

what would be tomorrow result.

Saturday, 7 February 2009

i think what would be tomorrow result between arsenal and spurs, it's gonna be win or lose. and i know it would be difficult game for both sides. these team did not want to lose any game to save their own target.

what i'm keen to see is arshavin to be line up in this game. and i know many arsenal fan not to be patient about this. and also spurs fan there are keen to see their hero striker to be back.

arsenal who want to maintain their unbeaten record since they lose against aston villa. plus they also want to get into champion league place for next season. this win can give their mentality back.

for spurs currently crucial to win right now to surviving from relegation, even though they are just two points off the foot of the Premier League.

From this situation anything could happen, and i propose mr wenger need to be careful and need to be strong in all position cos all mistake would be involve into trouble. from now they need a solution to avoid from every mistake so that they not did the same mistake like last met against spurs which in draw 4-4 in last minute.

I wonder if adebayor get his score it will give him archive full record in derbies game. This will be great news for gooners fan.

So sad arshavin may not be line up this sunday

Friday, 6 February 2009

Report that Arshavin 'won't be rushed' into derby debut in sunday’s game for the North London derby cos he may come too early for him.

The 27-year-old new signing is currently travelling back from Russia after obtaining his visa. He is scheduled to arrive on Friday night however, with only 10 days of pre-season training under his belt with Zenit St Petersburg, Arsène Wenger was suggesting the midfielder may miss out.

“I will have reservations yes," said the manager at the pre-match press conference. "The worst thing for a player is not being ready to play in a game of that intensity, or getting injured before having kicked a ball for the team.

“I will see what kind of shape he is in tomorrow to see if he will be involved in the squad or not. We are not in a hurry with him.

“He will be available. But at the moment he is somewhere in a plane. He had to fly back to Russia to get a visa and he is coming back tonight.

“I believe he is talented, intelligent and motivated. When you have these things together, you always have a chance to make an impact. But you have to give him time as well. He is not fit at the moment because he had only 10 days preparation after a long break.”

In my opinion is okay, we know hes not really fit cos not play since november. however arshavin must keep training well otherwise he could fail to save arsenal in surviving in champion league race for this season.

can ade be the top scorer derby record

This sunday night arsenal will play against spurs the most wanted derby in london city. with adebayor eyes for the derby record and he can become the all-time record North London derby goalscorer in Premier League history.

The Togolese striker has scored six goals in the derby and is just one behind Robert Pires meaning two or more goals on Sunday would put him at the top of the charts.Adebayor is set to make his 100th Premier League appearance on Sunday and has scored 44 league goals for Arsene Wenger's side.

Arsenal dominate the derby-day scoring charts. Thierry Henry scored five times against Spurs, while Freddie Ljungberg, Patrick Vieira and Ian Wright scored four each against their bitter rivals.

More importantly that they need to domain this game and get more goals as what they should be. This winner can give arsenal title hope. I'm sure there is never gonna be a lose or draw.

who will be man of the match?

As well as we all know arsenal will plays against spurs for london derby battle. this is important game for arsenal to get close for higher level also for surviving their champion league next season.

With arshavin the new arrival player maker possible be line up in this weeks. Although, we cannot forget van persie who really get inform in this season and showed charisma to help arsenal in many match from defeated. This both player such a potential player who will get arsenal through.

However, can arsenal win this important game or they will makes the same way draw, What we only hope is van persie can provide the goal in same way he did it. or maybe we should change performance little bit to push more in first half to get the goal in first half rather than last injury time. then maintain performance in the second half to get more goals.

What happen to arsenal in this season this is not makes sense cos last season they really did much better, even they failed to archive something, but we as a fan really proud in that performance. they really good in attacking, balance, really good scorer suddenly they fail to keep maintain in this season. They almost lose everything and careless in what they got.

Which case what should arsenal do it right now, arsenal need to find the way to score, and try to shoot in different way.

Late signing could be danger

Thursday, 5 February 2009

arsenal late signing is set to be discuss at meeting at premier league club in thursday. as we know arshavin is signing in last monday but they not officially completed it and takes more days to get through.

this might be trouble for arsenal who glad in signing a new play maker but suddenly never happen.

arshavin who got a new shirt number 23 at arsenal and could be line up for the first debut in london derby. However whose know maybe he could be sent of to russian back cos transfer problem. But I think maybe this is only a gossip or someone make the story for publicity.

The Gunners are currently outside the top four of the Premier League otherwise has too many injury player and Arshavin's signing is seen as crucial to their hopes of securing Champions League football next season.

hopefully there is no more difficult situation from arsenal right now. and arshavin with his style and dribling ability he will be great future for him and get many goal as much as we wanted.
